The London-Sussex Summer School in Intellectual History is a rare
opportunity for graduate students to acquire further training in the discipline
and its different methodologies. It will include special workshops and
masterclasses, feedback on current research, and advice on writing and
publishing.
London
is now one of the international centres of research and teaching in the history
of political thought and intellectual history with a dedicated graduate
programme and year-round research seminars, conferences, and workshops. Members
of staff from the different branches of the University of London
and from the Sussex Centre for Intellectual History will lead the discussions. Applications
are welcome from doctoral students in intellectual history or related disciplines
(the history of philosophy, literature, politics and science) and from MA
students intending to pursue doctoral study in this area.
The Summer School is convened by Professor Knud Haakonssen (former
Director of the Centre for Intellectual History at Sussex and Honorary Professor of
History at UCL) and Dr Angus Gowland of the Department of History at UCL.
Dates and fees: The event starts on 3 September 2012 in the evening and
ends mid-afternoon on 6 September 2012. Participants are required to contribute
either £100, or £230 which will also cover three nights’ accommodation in
central London.
Fees include lunches and a reception dinner on the first evening.

future research to Ms Emma Patten, e.patten@ucl.ac.uk, by 22 June 2012.
